A fun cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. A young woman inherits her great dance bar on the coast of Maine. It is in a small port town and her aunt was a well-known psychic and helped the local police solve mysteries in crimes. Our character has always had some slight psychic traits but nothing like her aunt. Now she’s on the bar for a few months and along with her aunts cat who she has a psychic connection with she begins to except and learn how to use some of her abilities. There a net collection and as our hero and her car start their first investigation into a murder. The results keep you interested and reading. She decides to close down early to show her customers she means business. She is taking out the trash when she sees a hand. After her cat Zeus prods her to investigate, she finds Ned dead in the dumpster. Wanda calls the police. Wanda finds out from her cat Zeus, that her aunt helped with police investigations all the time. Wanda still thinks she is crazy, but goes to the police. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Jennifer -- Check out Constance Barker’s newest series: Mystic Bar Mysteries! : I have done so much reading lately that I am having trouble focusing on any story for more than 5 minutes at a time. So this was not my usual quick read. I had a hard time getting started and staying focused long enough to get into the story. In spite of all that, I really enjoyed this story once I got going. There was a lot of humor and fun which is common in Ms. Barker’s stories. I really felt for the main character, Wanda, who thought she was normal until she inherited a bar from her Aunt Ashley in the small town of Port Jennings. Now she is psychic. Her cat talks to her. Then she finds a dead body behind her bar; the dead guy possesses her cat and harasses her to find his killer; and a mysterious pregnant woman comes to the bar, has her baby, and disappears leaving the baby behind for Wanda to take care of. Where does she go from here? Does she follow in her aunt’s footsteps? Read the book and find out. I am looking forward to all of Wanda’s adventures. Wanda has inherited her aunt’s tavern along with a cat named Zeus with the ability to talk to her. Her aunt helped Sheriff Kelly solved mysteries when she was alive and Wanda feels the same urge. With Zeus helping her, she heads out to solve the murder of a local attorney who she found in her dumpster after she closed one night. If that isn’t enough a mysterious girl named Wren appears outside the back door of her tavern, pregnant and due to deliver any moment. She lets her stay the night and she delivers a baby girl and disappears, leaving the baby with Wanda. She now has to try to locate Wren and take care of a newborn. I can’t wait to read the next book as this one ended with a cliffhanger! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2021 )
